The Gade Creative Lounge: Pegadaian’s Commitment to Supporting Education in Indonesia

WIO EN – PT Pegadaian continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting education in Indonesia through the inauguration of the 16th and 17th The Gade Creative Lounge (TGCL) at Sriwijaya University, South Sumatra and Sam Ratulangi University, North Sulawesi on February 23 and 24, 2024, respectively.

TGCL is a modern collaborative learning space designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas, innovation, and creativity among students, lecturers, and researchers. The facility is equipped with co-working spaces, computer labs, MSME corners, and a stage. It also features disabled-friendly spaces with handrails and dedicated restrooms.

“We believe that with The Gade Creative Lounge at Sriwijaya University and Sam Ratulangi University, they will become centers of innovation and creativity, not only in South Sumatra or North Sulawesi, but throughout Indonesia. We invite the entire campus community to utilize these facilities and collaborate in creating creative solutions for future challenges,” explained Rully Yusuf, Head of the Social Responsibility Division of PT Pegadaian.

TGCL is part of PT Pegadaian’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, particularly in the social principle that supports and develops creative talents in the academic environment. Through TGCL, Pegadaian implements SDG number 4 on quality commitment to supporting education in Indonesia.

“In line with PT Pegadaian’s flagship program, The Gade Generation, we also hold a simultaneous annual event to support campus social entrepreneurs. This event was previously held at ten The Gade Creative Lounge locations across Indonesia through The Gade Sociopreneurship Challenge series in October-December 2023,” added Rully.

Through various activities and media, Pegadaian strives to strengthen the skills and capabilities of students throughout Indonesia to become a generation that surpasses the previous one.

Eka Pebriansyah, Director of Network, Operations, and Sales of PT Pegadaian, said that PT Pegadaian believes The Gade Creative Lounge facilities can create more opportunities for innovation and collaboration that can advance the younger generation.

“We believe that The Gade Creative Lounge will become a platform for creativity, innovation, and collaboration for young people. In addition to increasing knowledge and insight, the presence of TGCL will provide real solutions in educational, social, and financial aspects for students, communities, and the wider society. We hope that The Gade Creative Lounge buildings can be available in every province throughout Indonesia,” expressed Eka.

To date, TGCL is present in 17 universities, namely Universitas Brawijaya (1), Institut Pertanian Bogor, Universitas Pakuan, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Budi Luhur, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Brawijaya (2), Universitas Andalas, Universitas Mulawarman, Universitas Mataram, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Sriwijaya, and Universitas Sam Ratulangi.

Pegadaian hopes that TGCL can be a creative space for young people to create and generate innovative solutions for the nation. The presence of TGCL is a concrete manifestation of Pegadaian’s commitment to supporting the advancement of education in Indonesia.
