WIO EN – The Very Very Important Person (VVIP) Airport, also known as the Naratetama Capital of the Archipelago (IKN), is nearing VVIP IKN Airport ready to welcome state guests in Indonesia.
In a recent statement by the Head of the Infrastructure Development Task Force of IKN, Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga, it was confirmed that the airport’s construction is progressing according to plan and even exceeding expectations, with the progress of the runway reaching 14 percent by the end of March 2024.
The VVIP IKN Airport, located in the Kalimantan region, is a major infrastructure project meticulously designed to meet international standards.
The runway under construction measures 3,000 meters in length and 45 meters in width, allowing for the landing of large-bodied aircraft such as the Boeing 777-3000ER and Airbus A380. These facilities are expected to support the arrival of state guests and other international flights.
Although initially listed in Batch 2 of infrastructure projects, due to rapid progress, the VVIP IKN Airport is targeted to enter the commissioning phase in June-July 2024.
This demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing adequate infrastructure for aviation needs, especially those related to heads of state and important guests.
In addition to the runway, other facilities at the VVIP IKN Airport are also being carefully constructed. The VVIP and VIP terminals, integral parts of the airport, will provide facilities in line with international standards to ensure the comfort and security of guests. Parking areas, inspection posts, hangars, and other supporting facilities are also in the process of construction.
The specifications of this airport include a terminal area of 7,350 square meters with an airport area covering 347 hectares.
Additional facilities such as aprons capable of accommodating three large-bodied aircraft, helipads for three helicopters, and various other supporting facilities will provide comprehensive services for all types of flights.
The design concept of the IKN Airport Terminal showcases a blend of local wisdom with modern touches. Drawing inspiration from Kalimantan culture, the terminal will feature unique nuances with elements such as Longhouse, Hornbill, and the distinctive curved lines motif of Kalimantan.
All of this will create an enchanting environment introducing international guests to Indonesia’s cultural richness.
In an interview, Danis Hidayat Sumadilaga expressed his confidence that the VVIP IKN Airport will be one of the best in the Southeast Asian region. “We are not just building an airport, but creating an icon that represents Indonesia’s grandeur and modernity,” he said confidently.
In preparation for welcoming state guests in June 2024, the Indonesian government is not only focusing on the physical construction of the VVIP IKN Airport but also on providing other supporting services and infrastructure. One crucial aspect being enhanced is security and inspection at the airport.
The inspection posts at the VVIP IKN Airport will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to ensure optimal security for all passengers and guests. Sophisticated inspection systems will be installed to detect any threats and safeguard flight security.
Additionally, cargo facilities and catering services will be well-prepared to support airport operations. Modern cargo facilities will enable efficient and secure delivery of goods, while catering services will provide high-quality food and beverages for passengers and guests.
The government is also endeavoring to strengthen land connectivity to the VVIP IKN Airport. Plans for improved access roads are being prioritized to ensure that the airport can be easily accessed from various points around it. Public transportation will also be well-integrated to facilitate travel to and from the airport.
In terms of supporting facilities, the VVIP IKN Airport will be equipped with various services such as small hospitals, first aid posts, and government offices. All of these aim to provide comprehensive services and ensure the comfort and security of all airport users.
Meanwhile, preparations to welcome state guests also include training for airport staff and service personnel. This training aims to enhance professionalism and skills in serving VIP guests to high standards.
With all these preparations in place, the VVIP IKN Airport is ready to be the perfect host for state guests in June 2024.
It is hoped that with grandeur, modernity, and superior services, this airport will be one of the best in the world and strengthen Indonesia’s image as a friendly and professional host.
