WIO EN – Collaborated SMRA YPI Al Azhar builds school in IKN, this school will become an integral part of education development in the IKN and is expected to produce a generation of young people who are superior and have character.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Al Azhar Summarecon IKN Islamic School will be carried out by President Joko Widodo at the end of May 2024. The school will be built on an area of 2.9 hectares in the Public Service Facilities Sub Zone (SPU) 1 IKN.

Environmentally Conscious Modern School

The Al Azhar Summarecon IKN Islamic School will provide education from elementary school (SD) to high school (SMA) levels with a modern and environmentally conscious building concept.

This school will be equipped with various supporting facilities such as comfortable classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sports fields, auditoriums, and mosques.

“We hope that the presence of Al Azhar Summarecon in IKN can be beneficial for families of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and the general public to produce a generation of superior young people,” said SMRA President Director Adrianto P. Adhi in an official statement, Monday (13/5).

Long-Established Cooperation

The cooperation between Yayasan Syiar Bangsa and YPI Al Azhar has been established for 12 years. Through this collaboration, four Al Azhar Islamic Schools have been developed in Summarecon with a total of 3,000 students.

“This experience is what we will apply to the Al Azhar Islamic School in IKN Nusantara,” said Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Yayasan Syiar Bangsa, H. Edi Darnadi.

Positive Contribution to IKN

General Chairman of the Yayasan Pesantren Islam Al Azhar, Dr. Fuad Bawazier, hopes that the presence of the Al Azhar Summarecon IKN Islamic School can have a positive impact on the environment in the IKN Nusantara region.

“With Al Azhar’s experience, we will contribute together with other educational institutions that will also be present in this area,” he explained.

Full Support from the Government

The construction of the Al Azhar Summarecon IKN Islamic School has received full support from the government. Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Mendikbudristek), Nadiem Makarim, appreciated SMRA and YPI Al Azhar’s steps in building schools in the IKN.

“This is a real example of collaboration between the private sector and the government in building education in the IKN,” said Nadiem.
