USU Hosts the 7th SSBRN Symposium 2024: A Proud Achievement from 40 Universities Worldwide

WIO EN – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has once again made a remarkable achievement in the international arena. The oldest university in Sumatra has just completed its task as the main host of the Call for Paper International conference in the field of Social Science and Business Research Network (SSBRN) and a forum for deans of economics faculties from 40 universities around the world.

The event, titled The 7th SSBRN Symposium 2024: USU Award, was held at the University Marie Curie Skolowdoska (UMCS), Lublin, Poland on May 9-10, 2024.

USU’s participation as the main host of this conference is a proud achievement and a new chapter for USU. This demonstrates USU’s credibility in the international arena and is a testament to USU’s commitment to improving the quality of education.

Prof. Muryanto Amin, Rector of USU, explained that SSBRN is a prestigious academic event attended by renowned universities from various countries.

“This year, or exactly the 7th SSBRN event, USU has the honor of being the main host,” said Prof. Muryanto in his speech in Poland.

International Cooperation and USU’s Target

In addition to being the main host, USU also took advantage of this opportunity to expand its international academic network.

USU signed an MoU with UMCS for guest lecture, student mobility, and joint research programs. USU also visited the Indonesian Embassy in Poland to establish cooperation with Indonesian institutions in Poland.

Rector of UMCS, Prof. Radoslaw Dobrowolski, welcomed the cooperation and expressed his interest in collaborating with USU, including by sending UMCS lecturers as guest lecturers at USU and participating in USU’s Summer Course program.

This cooperation is expected to expand the international academic network for both institutions and enhance USU’s reputation in the eyes of the world.

USU’s Internationalization Efforts

USU’s participation in SSBRN is part of the internationalization program that USU has initiated in the past three years. Various internationalization programs have been carried out by USU, such as:

  • Increasing the number of international publications by USU lecturers and students
  • Inviting guest lecturers from abroad
  • Sending USU students to participate in exchange programs abroad
  • Enhancing international cooperation with universities abroad

USU’s Target: Under the leadership of Rector Prof. Muryanto Amin, USU is targeting to become one of the top 500 universities in the world in the next few years.

USU’s success as the main host of the 7th SSBRN in Poland is a significant step forward in achieving this target.

Prof. Muryanto Amin is optimistic that USU will continue to improve the quality of education and its reputation in the international arena.

“I am confident that with the cooperation and hard work of all parties, USU will be able to achieve its target of becoming one of the top 500 universities in the world,” he said.
